A large hand-shaped dish with an undulating rim, its basin washed in streaming cobalt and sand glazes over speckled stoneware. A woman's face rises from the blue in a few loaded brushstrokes, eyes closed, hair drawn like a wave, punctuated by two ochre marks. A small amber cup sits on the surface, turning the piece into a still life as much as a vessel — the Mediterranean light of the paintings carried into clay and water.
