Boats at rest before an ochre church, the water worked in broad palette-knife strokes. The harbour is built from a single sweep of blues and greens, each hull laid in with a few loaded gestures, while the façade behind holds the last warmth of the afternoon. Painted from memory of the Lebanese coast, the picture keeps the stillness of a port between two departures.
